I have had no luck either acquiring a repro, I have seen 3 or 4 real ones for sale in the past year all around 300 bucks, maybe Ade makes them?? LOL

Likely, they were not worn as they would get in the way of the work they preformed. I have never bought or seen one attached to a veteran acquired hewer. That would be a sizeable number.

I bought mine from a show many many, years ago now.

I think it originally came from Tom Johnson in the USA.

    Cheers, Ade.

I doubt they ever did wear a Portepee or Troddel, not with the dagger nor hewer.
No uniform-plate from the German Red Cross does include them.
In none of the uniform-regulations for the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz it was
either mentioned and if one ever was indeed worn/authorized it would have had
the color red interwoven/included. This red was also visible with the aiguillette and
also the Auszeichnungs-Tresse had red. A brocade was not included in any
    of the uniform-regulations!
