I have had this dagger for a number of years. I believe its a forestry dagger missing pieces from both ends of the stag horn. Been hoping to find pieces but viewing the ones on this site all seem to be different. Only marking is a 3 on the tang as well as the crosspiece. Any info is appreciated. Hi Brain welcome to the forum. You came in with a great opening topic..and stick around for awhile you should get the answers you need.

On these Forestry daggers ..there were many varied types ...so it may be difficult to find the fittings you are seeking. But I also see a decent example for what it is..with some age gray to the blade. Its all authentic from what i can see. Other thoughts and comments are welcome

I don't see a Forestry connection on this knife. Looks like a private purchase item to me, likely Imperial/Weimar era.

I have to agree with Billy here. It looks to me like simply a private purchase German hunting knife. Difficult to assign an exact age to it, but pre-war, almost certainly.
