thanks guys they are un touched in the 20 years i have had them, i assume they are coated with something that has kept them from tarnishing.

Andrew - Real beauties- both are imperial Jager (Hunting) hirschfangers -usually the Forestry Hirschfanger has the Grip Knuckle bow(Griffbugel) where the Jager does not. Also the name etc on the back of the spin is the distributors name etc-The makers are ACS Alcoso and the Z in a shield is Clemen and Jung both Solingen.
I say usually above as in the early Imperial period both the Jager and forester wore the Hirschfanger without the bow, later in the imperial era the difference was made between the hirschfanger with or without the bow. A Forester who was also a trained hunter could wear the Hirschfanger without the knuckle-bow.
