But even Lance's E & F Horster example is maker marked. We have to keep in mind this type was reproduced since the 1970's, and it could be one of those. The fraktur mark does looks correct for Imperial period. Does anyone have another example in the "hammesfahr style" without a maker mark ?

It is heavy corroded

A forty year old knife left in the damp could easily gain corrosion that could give the impression of greater age. Is the scabbard one or two rivets for the leather hanger?

With a one rivet hanger and no maker mark, I would think not made by Gottieb Hammesfahr and possibly a much later reproduction that has gained some wear, age and patina.
