If there is no slot and the "button" is fixed it's just a decoration. And another picture or pictures of the TM might help, with the ones here suggesting that it's not quite halfway to the tip. And seems to be indistinct which is not a criticism, just an observation as my own photo skills most times are not the best. FP
To me its looks more like a reshaped short dress bayonet.

Come on guys,this is a nice good fighting knife.
It is correct blade shape and the maker mark is also
in correct position. These are used in TR period IMO.
