Hello all. We found this dagger going through our dad's stuff. Can we get some help on it please? Most likely going to end up selling it. So looking to properly identify it and get it to the new right owner. It weighs 6.5 oz. The blade looks like it's stamped "Habertus" with a nautical wheel above it. Our dad was into collecting German and American war relics, so I'm guessing this may fall into this area. Thanks in advance.

It's trying to be some kind of Damascus short bladed Navy dagger , but it's fake .
The Damascus blade looks acid etched and the hardware is junk .
Here is what real Damascus steel looks like .

Hello Kuhn welcome to the forum..it is unfortunate as stated above that this is a current repro made up to look like something as seen in the link provided be Member Richie.

The Damast application is current. We see these little shorties pop up once in awhile. Te details on your example and the example seen in the link are all worn down on purpose. There is no real value in this nice except $20. No Naval damast short was ever produced.

To go along with the poorly detailed pommel, this is an example of how it should look.
