Nice RAD Dagger with Hangar out of the woodwork

Article about: I always was partial to the RAD hewers. They have always been difficult to find with excellent scabbard paint. The matching unit marks is an extra seldom seen. Nice find and congratulations.

Default Nice RAD Dagger with Hangar out of the woodwork

    Hey guys,

This is an RAD Dagger that I recently acquired through the daughter-in-law of a veteran. It is in fantastic condition, and even includes an original bullet hangar. Being the first item I have ever personally pulled out of the woodwork I'm thrilled to have it. As you can see by the Ma 85, this dagger is ID'd to Company-85 of RAD Group-Magdeburg in Magdeburg, Germany. If anybody would like to more photos just let me know.

    regards,
    Corey

The blade is in nice condition. This is the first RAD Hewer I have ever held. It is much heavier than I expected.

Here are a couple close ups of the blade, motto, maker's marks and unit ID. It is marked Eikhorn, Solingen.

Moving on to the sheath. I think this one is in above average condition. Probably 95% paint is remaining.

Sorry about that Steve, iPhone has a terrible camera, the photos make the blade look strange. it isn't polished, I'll get better photos when the sun comes out tomorrow.

Here is the Hangar. It is dated 1937. I'm not sure what all the markings mean.

Incredible find Corey,, These knives are no Joke when it comes to weight!!,, the hanger alone is worth alot. Woodwork finds are the most satisfying which also makes you the 3rd owner! IMO Great Find!! Best Regards Larry

I think the hangers are worth almost as much as the knives
themselves. Looking forward to pics of the blade.........!
