NPEA real or fake ???

Article about: I hate to say it as this is more then likely a reproduction, as the originals would have not have the Damascus type blade, and the motto would not have had the oak leaves on it like that. Al

    Default NPEA real or fake ???

    Hi guys i have a NPEA chained dagger , im pretty sure its real but the only thing that im cons urn about is the chain attachment. i figured ill ask you guys what do you think and maybe how much can i get for it . thank a lot guys

    I hate to say it as this is more then likely a reproduction, as the originals would have not have the Damascus type blade, and the motto would not have had the oak leaves on it like that.

    All of the NPEA dagger ive come across , have never had a Damascus type blade.

    And the links on the scabbard would have been closed.

    And the “Ges. Gesch.” should have a curve to it, not straight and even like it is on yours.

    Is this yours, or is it being offered to you.

    agree- Never saw such a wood grained blade on a confirmed good one.

    I would say its a combination of a fantasy piece, and a reproduction.

    probably a "frankenstein",,,some original some replica parts

    This was my first thought too, upon seeing that blade.
    It may also have simply been 'rebladed'. The guards
    and grip look ok to me.

    Usually, Damascus bladed daggers have very ornate
    guards and sheath fittings.

    That was a big flag to me also, why would they go through all of that trouble on the blade, and not do the rest of the dagger parts.

    Plus the maker marks on the chain is all wrong...
