I am not good on daggers but I have never seen a handle grooved like that . I may be wrong though....

Most makers hid the drill hole beneath the pommel but this is sometimes seen on later examples hope this help's (hope that is what you meant Eric )

I suppose the selling price is another indicator of a bad dagger.
It should be somewhat more, IMO.........

As has been mentioned, the over thick grip is a typical sign of a modern reproduction. Note the disparity between the grip thickness and the ferrule & the bottom of the pommel, too much difference in size. The drilled hole in the grip is a red flag IMHO as is the casting flaw on the underside of the crossguard. Speaking of the crossguard, I don't believe the 3R ever out out a 2nd model Luft dagger with a crossguard that has such an ugly eagle, wow.
