Rough DRK Hewer

Article about: To clean or not to clean? I usually try not to mess with patina but in this case I might consider some efforts just to prevent the rust from spreading further. What do you gentlemen think? B

    Indeed ;-)

The pommel in fact looks like it was used as a sedative more than once

I would recommend cleaning as well, but DO NOT use any abrasives or "hard" material to clean. You will regret it.
You can see before and after photos of my example here. It was cleaned and still shows much of the silvering after cleaning.
DRK Hewer, new to my collection.

Hhahna Jan, your hewer looks plenty worn already, ja? ;-)

I guess the first one to post a pic gets a prize

Jan do not clean the scabbard with steelwool or abressive, you will ruin it.
Use WD40, spray it 3 times a day and gently remove it at the end of the day by rubbing it with a soft cloth before you go to bed.
After a soft rub, spray it again.
Do this for a week or two, and you will not recognize this scabbard.

    Good luck
