I do not think that is the case. The black stripes are just blending in with the black tunic. I believe I can see the stripes.

I don't want to say Nay to the Big Cheese. But I have zoomed in on it and can see only the seams but I do not see the black stripes. The men that are around him, the stripes are obvious but his is are missing. Could be the pic's but this is what I am seeing.

It looks like the edges have been rolled under. Plus the roundel seems closer to the edges than the others.
While I don't have that neat little gif animation that Phil has. Feel free to flog me as well if I'm wrong. My eyes are not like they used to be.
