    Thanks scout, I am pleased!
The "thing" on the left side of the helmet is a plume holder, used on parades.
The French started WWI with thise helmets on theyre heads....imagine!!?

    Good looking, but lethal.
Small wonder both the French and the Germans scrambled to find alternatives.
Both the plumed French helmet and the Pickelhaube were poorly suited for WWI warfare.
.....not that the Adrian was anything to write home about.
Sidenote; warfare certainly shows the weakness in different armies. British against a Boer Commando hiding with far reaching, fast loading Mausers and using the terrain to their advantage.
The American War-Between-the-states with old fashioned tactics.
Prussians going at the Danes with fast loading needle guns against slow loading muzzle loaders and rifled cannon against smooth bores.

What a great looking helmet! Reminds one of the Romans. Congrats on your finds.

The helmet has the look of an Adrian from the front, you can see the ancestry. Also the lions at the side remind me very much of the Belgian Adrian insignia. Great items!
