should be here in a few days I will post more pics, and yes the "groove" goes all the way to the tip
Yes, its a nice shortened version as per regulations, alot of them are like this.
UPDATE!!
Hi All, Got my bayo today and took some better photos, its definatly been cleaned up at some point but it is still a very nice piece, I will point out some new things about it, its non slotted, I found some more markings on it, a 147 on the scabbard top and side blade, and a few inspection marks, I believe these marks were done after the rework/reissue of shortening the blade to 13 inches amongst other 1936/37 regulations for this piece, also I read that alot of policemen would use the head as a hammer when putting up signs and such, so alot of them have hammer marks on the head or sides, I took a look and what do you know, marks on the head that look alot like someone banged a nail with it! besides all that the detail is really nice esp the eagle, I love the stag grips, the scabbard is a bit worn but it just adds charecter and the frog is well worn, either original to the bayo or replaced at some point but it is dated 1937 so thats a good sign, thanks for looking and helping, I love the ride of aquiring a new piece and learning from it and about it. I also love how much some pieces can tell a story when looking at it from top to bottom, I'm sure you all understand
