WTK info on this German Dress Dagger

Well dumb question, and sort of crappy pics. I am not starting to collect German knives. And I have a guy offering me this up for sale and he just wants me to make an offer on it. I know there are a ton of fakes out there, so I'm really leary about buying anything that I don't know. And well I don't know this one.

What do you guys think, and a rough value. It doesn't look in the best condition. But is still neat.

Pete is correct.

The photos look suspiciously similar to others from recent
threads. Is the seller supposedly French ? - If so,
he was banned earlier today.........

No he is in Indiana. I was going to go to his house to look at it.

The only thing that frightens me, is so much german stuff is faked. How do you now for sure it's real.

Though I said I have no idea, I lean on the side of original, due to the condition & blemishes on the pic. of the reverse of the crossguard.

I think I can get it for around $500. What do you guys think, too high?

From the photos, I also lean towards the side of original. If you can get the dagger that is in the photos for $500. and it is original, that is a good deal.

Exc.+ are around $1,500 and more if minty which is really hard to find.Johnson's list will give you an idea about all daggers,but he is on the high end.Also thats w/dress portapee (knot).Goodbuys PS.You should always post clear photos so the members can comment.$500 is a good price for that dagger.
