I like the general look of it.

But it is unusual in not having a gilt finish???

It looks A-OK to me. Ade, as far as the patina goes, its just age oxidation. I have quite a few like it. When you see them with a nice gilt finish, but with green oxidation, those are the ones to stay away from.

guys, i'm getting conflicting opinions about this kokarde on a Russian site. some say it's an original with a replaced prong, while the admin there says it's a copy. i've asked to see an original, both sides, as i haven't been able to find one on the net. would appreciate pics of what you deed as originals. thank you!

Do a search. I and a few others have posted our examples here in the past.

In my opinion, it is original. Perhaps the prongs have been replaced now that I look at it closer though, but perhaps not.

thank you, but i can't find any detailed closeup pictures of this kokarde, both sides, just on caps at a distance, so i can't really compare.

anyway, assuming it's original, in your opinion, what is one like this worth in this condition? thank you

These cap badges are a nightmare.

I owe several of these. Some I thought could be original, some are known fakes. One of mine looks very much like yours. I have been discussing these for years with friends and experts from western and eastern Europe. There seem to be very few people who can tell from very specific details it a cap badge is original or a reproduction.

If I initially got positive response on this one, several experts whose judgement I highly trust came out saying that this was fake (which kind of destroyed me..). They wouldn't really saying why, pointing to the fact that the moment too much information is spread around, fakers will have a great time getting together killer copies of these and sell them for hundreds of dollars.

So everything I can tell you is, I have one like yours..I thought it was original, others did to, but I was then shot down, although the exact reason why remains elusive..
