    My fellow collectors ,

I have a great interrest in soviet helmets that is not limited to
    the WWII issue helmets.
Here we have a nice and from my observation not so often seen
1954 dated example that has been made by the 3KO maker.
I especially like the brown artificial leather.
Am I right by assuming that 3KO means something like "red october factory "

In another thread one collector asked about the approximate date
when the chinstraps were sewn on to the bales and not longer fixed with those small split rivets.
For a very long time I thought that from around 1953 produced helmets started to show bar tacked (sewn on) chinstraps.
Now I have got this ´54r with split pins....

You are correct, 3KO (Zavod Krasniy Oktyabr ) Red October factory.

I think the chinstraps are sewn on helmets product by the CT factory (Stalingradskiy Traktorskiy Zavod) only 1954 to 1960.
I've never seen a helmet 3K0 mint with the sewn chinstraps .

Sorry guys, I threw this helmet when my relatives drove me out home.
And it was not the only Soviet helmet threw me.
