Absolutely amazing helmet. You can tell that this has seen and been through a lot of stuff. And the fact that it still has it's chinstrap and liner still intact, in almost mint condition is just... amazing! And on top of all of that, you still have the date stamped clearly AND an early star on the front. Just wow.
The wearer of this helmet must have been very carfully used them and cleaned it after every fight
I would say it was never used by a soldier in WW2
The hole can be a shot of an aircraft/Tank/MG attacked the Storage or Targetpracticing from the Finnish army or something
All in all a amazing piece of history

Both helmets in picture were used and issued during 1939, although not used for long. Hence the good condition. The war lasted for 105 days and the soviets lost stockpiles of fresh, out of the box gear right away. Finnish pocket and encirclement tactics were really efficient during the war. The helmet on the back for example, is named by russian soldier. Still, the condition is mint, only sad thing is, that it is missing the liner. It is typical for these helmets, that were used in the winter. They were removed to make space for the budenovka hat.
These have lots of character!
Thank you everyone, for the replies! And thank you for fixing the orientation! Im using mobile, and did not know how to orient them.
Congrats! It a long time since I have seen one as good as that
