Post War Russian Ushanka Question

Article about: I’m curious as to what a post WW2 Soviet Army ushanka looks like? I’ve only ever seen Bulgarian ushankas for sale everywhere, but never a Soviet one except for in some pictures.

I used my Bing Fu using your title and got plenty of images of it.

Thanks for the reply Phil! Although perhaps I should’ve worded it better, by the post war ushankas I meant like the ones used in the 50s and 60s. They seem similar to the Bulgarian ones but figured I’d ask here to find out. The only thing that pops up for post war ushankas seems to just be images of the widespread 80s variant with the blueish gray fish fur.

    Hello Sssr,

Take a look at this link, it shows good ushanka from the 50s ;D

    An older ushanka for review

    Best regards

    That made me laugh!
I have lost count of how many times I have tried to explain to people in UK who have no experience of Russian humour (not that far from British sarcasm actually) why it is called "fish fur". The response I usually get is "but fish don't have fur" and at which point I rest my case
