This is still a very nice looking budenovka.

Guys,
Thank you all for your input, Richiec can I ask what the reverse of the star you show looks like please. Is there anything I should look for in the star to ensure it is period? There are lots of stars etc here but most are probably cold war era?
Thanks again.
Jock

Reverse:
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
I think these would work also:
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
Any of the stars pre-war made, also without separate hammer and circle would fit to it. You can find the thread about the stars here. Also it looks like a crimpson red- then it's for NKVD, or if maroon ( the color near the German Vetinar service, but darker), then infantry. Very nice early MOSKVOSHVEI stamp and a great and rare budionovka

Dimas,
Thanks for the info, I will have to get him some more British badges to make it a fairer swap.
