Russian M40 helmet w/ star on front

My buddy gave me this lid a while back. I'm kinda mad at this helmet right now, though.

It fell off my shelf and broke the glass display case I had below it

! Oh well, The next day(yesterday) I happened upon a bigger, better display case that was discarded on the side

walk!

Hi Dean, the shell is 1948 dated but it has been updated to the later four point chinstrap fixing.

Never seen such a large star on a helemt like this before.

Thanks Ade, Yeah even though it's been updated it is still quite awkward. I wore it two Halloween's ago and it wasnt too comfortable. But then what Russian-made item is meant to be cozy? ( not the T34!)
