I'd be skeptical myself and at this stage of my collecting experience, I would save my funds for another example that has a bit more "salt". I suppose, some consideration depends on who the seller is. Even knowing that, I'd still have to think long and hard.
Just my opinion. Not to be taken as direction.
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
@RichieC , apologize my English is not the best . You skeptical about the authenticity , or just the consition too good ? .
The seller say the cap come from german veteran , it was "souvenir" from russia .
He sell too this flag .
I can only add that stamps are heavily faked. Flags also.
Please, do not let my skepticism affect your decision. I would always trust Dom's opinion in any case, but for me, this particular pilotka seems too "new" for me to be 100% secure.
"With experience, comes suspicion as well as knowledge." If that makes any sense.
Thats all.
Cheers,
Richie

Some skepticism are never wrong ! you right and i know it , helmets stamps and caps be faked , I have lost allready some money on ssh39 ... .
The seller come from german militaria forum , im sure he not faker , and he say it come from german veteran , maybe never or little used (or my wishful thinking)
The price is 150 Euro . I like russian militaria bud not easy to find her in west germany .
best regards
Michael
Michael,
In my opinion, 150 Euros is too cheap for such an "authentic" thing. Especially if the seller is "in the know". And why would a German veteran have such a "new" looking thing? I can see such a veteran having just the star - that was more than common. Taking the whole cap as a souvenir by an Ostfront veteran, I would think that it would have a bit more "character", or at least show more age.
I'm still not saying it is fake, by the way.
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
I agree with Richie. I do not like this pilotka.
The star is good but it's not the original. The buffers are not consistent. The first is dead in the strike while the second is drooling, while at the same time are affixed during manufacture.
I think the first stamp is good but indicating that 1940 is false, and was affixed to give value to this pilotka.
