Default soviet era helmet & canteen.

The helmet that I have taken photos of,
after a look into the different eras of soviet helmet I believe, that this is a ssh m48.
but as you can see the stamp has been worn off at some stage. maybe to trick people into thinking that this helmet is ww2.
the liner pads and chin strap tell me that they are post war.
there is no star stamp on the inside of the brim.
the heat stamp is 2-41 12. as the 2 should indicate the size.
the canteen has no button left to hold the strap. and has ink stamp on the inside witch is very worn out.
At the bottom of the water bottle there looks to be a maker stamp and date. looks to me as {MUO 1945 or 41.
and just a question with the canteen, would have this type of kit, found its way to be used by the NVA or Viet Kong. as this canteen bottle was found with Australian Vietnam era stuff.
    thank you mark.

Yes, the NVA / VC used many different types of canteens including WWII Japanese, French , US & South Vietnamese as well as canteens supplied by Soviet bloc countries, and China

this WW2 style Soviet canteen was used by the VC / NVA

    NVC Vietcong

The helmet is an early postwar Ssh40. The liner pads are still made in materials also correct for wartime build helmets.

i have to agree with wesleys dad ,the zigzag style liner pads are found on late 40's examples ,its a nice helmet so well done mark we can also say its highly likely the shell will be of ww2 period ,i believe these are not so common as the post 1950's issue ,hang on to it ,cheers james
