Hello
Good Learning
As documentation for helmets you will have :
- the Clawson book. A little old but you get the basics
- Militaria magasine N°365, 370, 375 and 377. In french but very good summary.
- History of Russian Helmet from Ivan Karabanov. Russian and English. The must have if you specialise in this.
Hope it helps
Bruno

The book from Ivan Karabanov is indeed one I need to get myself. Should be the best of the best from what I've heard.
The Clawson book was apparently full of mistakes and I heard even some fakes were displayed as originals so if true not worth the money. Only looked through briefly myself. At first sight it looked ok but can't comment on the content and the possible mistakes and fakes.

I have Karabanov’s book and can confirm it is fantastic. Kevin

Hello
The book from Yvan is definitively a must have as it provides all the technical details of each helmets, including prototypes.
Some detailed pictures are therefor missing. The kind of pictures collectors love when they face a new helmets before making their choice. Its where the forum or the Militaria magasines will help.
The Clawson is of course a little old and outdated but it was the first of his kind and still gives the basic
All the best

In Robs defence, and as Bruno says, I’m pretty sure his book was the first English one to concentrate on this topic....and at the time it was THE go-to book. As we’ve all learned more some aspects of his book have drifted.....but it’s still a good book. Yvan’s work is outstanding.....until the next one comes along..... :-)

Thanks for all of the recommendations!
