Soviet Russian Tanker Headgear?

Photos are from a recent Ebay purchase of what I believe to be headgear for a WWII or earlier Russian Tanker however, I have not been able to identify for sure and may be way off base. Any ideas?

Very cool BG, thanks for setting the record straight. The seller was not sure and made the assumption based on the top pads and that it was grouped with a bunch of stuff her got all pre dating 1949 from Russia....fair assumption. All I could find, in my search, was the T-55 tanker helmet, which I knew this was not. Canvase made me thing older, never crossed my mind that it might be an inner liner for a pilots helmet. Not having a forhead pad let me to think it might not be a tankers helmet however.

Thanks again for the info, either way, this is a great addition to the kids collection and I picked up for next to nothing.

Read up on this inner liner a bit last night. Looks like all I need, to make this complete is the $300 plus dollar helmet to put with this $10 liner.........

I also have one of these and it came out of IRAQ, inside the ear cups it has some arabic writing, I cant tell but yours looks like it might also have some arabic writing? could be a souvineer from Iraq

the Iraqi air force also used Russian Mig fighter jets

could of been used during the IRAN - IRAQ WAR back around 1980 - 1988

BG, you very well may be correct as there is some blue ink writting in one of the ear pieces (the seller said it was named) however, I did not inspect this item too close, just snapped a few pix and then tucked it away in a box pending my kids b-day and a few weeks. When we get it out, we'll inspect much closer to make a better determination. I suspect it probably is not from the Iran/Iraq war however as the seller obtained this from a lot that was all German, Russian and Latavian items. We will see, it would be great if it were from the II war.
