Ssch 40 war time or not?

    I am far from an expert on these, but I have to say that the liner looks very new and doesn't look like it has aged along with the rest of the helmet...

    It has been repainted and the chinstrap should not be leather as far i remember. It should be made of canvas. Could be a reissue WW2 of course. Let's wait for some more opinions

    I have read that markings in the actual steel rather than ink stamps, indicated a post war shell? I could be wrong, Russian lids are not really my thing.

    Ssch 40 war time or not?hi this is a postwar hungarian made helmet a clone of the soviet SSH40,note the leather chinstrap!soviet produced SSH40's only used webbed chinstrap,regards dave.added comparison picture from soviethelmet.com very useful and know there stuff,everything you need to know about SSH39-40,including wartime and postwar production,in pic helmet on the left is a postwar polish clone.the middle is hungarian postwar clone.the right is soviet made SSH40.

    its a puzzler the shell looks to have ww2 period soviet green on the inside shell but the liner flaps appear to be vinyl like the more modern soviet ssh 68 i wonder if the hungarians used soviet shells postwar before they produced the m50 does it have a star stamp under the front rim i cant tell from the pics
