I have a Ssh 39 with the original oilcloth liner. No chin strap but otherwise in very good condition. Clawson's book describes it as very rare. Can anyone give me an idea/range of its value?
Thanks.

We are more than happy to assist you. However, without seeing images of the item in question I do not think it is possible to provide an accurate appraisal.

That makes sense. I'll get a few pics. How do I attach/post them? Thanks.
There is an easy to follow image-hosting tutorial in the Technical/Design - Advice & Opinions section titled (sticky): Important! Please don't use picture hosting from other picture hosting sites for the forum

Okay, here are the pics. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
IMO: RETAIL value for such an item in such condition is at around $550.00
Perhaps other associates will comment with their opinions in the near future.

Thanks. I really appreciate the help!
Nice helmet. I wouldn'y pay any more than $500 for that one. I spent 275 for mine and the majority go much higher$$$$$$$$$

That's a good suggestion RichieC. I saw one listed for sale some time ago (6 mos or so) for 750 Euros. Seems like it had a bit of a chin strap but very little of the oilcloth liner left. I don't know if it sold or not.
