Ssh40 Post War Ink Stamp
We've been doing our homework on Ssh40 helmets as we will be adding one or two to the shelf soon we hope. These threads have been incredibly helpful, thank you all for the information on here.
In our learning process, we have stumbled on an ink stamp (helmet on eBay) that I have not found in any threads so I wanted to ask the experts. I've seen plenty examples of the "spider" stamp but not one quite like this. Need to know if I need to put in our Real of Fake database. We are not looking to purchase this helmet, just collecting info on the Ssh40 for our files.
Thanks, Russ & Son

Re: Ssh40 Post War Ink Stamp
This is a legitimate stamp.
However, the 8 in 1948 is often modified to become a 3 to fool the novices who don't do their homework before buying...
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!

Re: Ssh40 Post War Ink Stamp
absolutely rich 1948 being the most common year stamp so worth the least 46,47,49 are quite rare.i have two of these lids and am amazed how cheap they go for bearing in mind that the componants i've been told are excess ww2 stock, simply postwar assembled with repaint over original wartime paint, never got the exact truth perhaps somebody on here will put me straight once and for all.dave
