What is the main material of the buckle, is it light like aluminium? The condition of the bar is why I ask, it looks a bit out of place. Unusual insignia design that I've never seen before.

From the look of the catch i'd say it's brass.

Not a buckle I am familiar with, I am at work at the moment or I would have a look in the Angolia book and see if it is there, if it turns out period and not a fake then probably some workers party iof some sorts.

There is a large thread on this type buckle titled paramilitary. I tried to link the thread but it didn't work. Most people think the buckle is a fantasy item but someone came up with a newspaper with this insignia.

The roundel is in my opinion a phantasy production .

The patina is artificial made ........

I too dont particularly like the look of this one. Solder points look bad and the front looks much better than the back. Look at the rust on the prongs compared to the condition of the front!
