    Hi guys,

I got this belt in a job lot, just wondered what you thought of it? I'm thinking it's either SA or HJ, or am I of the mark?

Brown leather, really small size, marked up with a "2" and then indistinct number(s) after that at the non hook side of belt, where you often see size stampings. Leather makers would be marked L2 wouldn't they???

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Lenny

It's different to all the DDR belts I've seen, which seem to be black with NVA markings etc. The DDR hook is also much thicker than this one. This hook has the actual hook on the full side rather than the side with two parts, if you see what I mean? I've seen this hook in the Assmann catalogue.... Mmmm.... dunno, ????

Looking at it now, what you reckon on this belt though? Or maybe I should read the thread first....

That thread doesn't really help me... It shows a few political belts, but looking through the Assmann catalogue shows a variety of similar hooks, with hook part on both sides of the hook, IYKWIM... It's definetly thinner than a DDR hook.... Mmmm... ????

BTW the length of the hook seems strange to me!

Cheers mate, appreciated. As mentioned, this and other belt came free with my FKO belt and buckle, so I'm happy no matter what. They came from an old friend who owns a toy/model shop but buys in militaria as well. He's a good source of straight from vet items as when the old train collector guys come in or the children of old toy/train set collectors sell their father's train set collection he asks about militaria. Over the years he has turned up some absolutely stunning items, and since I started collecting again I've been back to see him...
