There are a couple of dealers at the SOS that have had these miners buckles with the Prussian eagle and swastika for several years in the $500-700 range. I would like to have one in my collection but not in that price range. I saw a denazified one sell on eBay last week for $90.

Miners buckles, especially the large version are extremely nice to own.
When I collected I had three from the TR period.

The large buckles were mainy worn with the Bergkittel. They were mentioned
in "Vorschriften über die bergmännische Kleidung" from March 5, 1934. All
earlier dress-orders were invalid. In the regulation the larger buckle with
only Schlägel und Eisen are not mentioned and I think they just were a
variation for regular use and not to be worn with the official dress.

Shown a part from a page about buckles from a catalogue about miners dresses
and material from the Weimar-period and the text from the 1934 regulation and
image from the eagle used. Bergschüler most often did wear the normal size
    buckles.

according to regulation the gilded buckle
was worn with symbol: Schlägel und Eisen.
This was worn anyway at the Bochum-area.

If this symbol ever was used with a buckle, is not known.
It was anyway meant for the visored cap and typical hat.

The eagle was silvered, the other symbol in yellow-golden.
It was announced March 31, 1939 by an order from the
Reichswirtschaftsminister and related to the miners dress
    (II Bg. 3846/38 2. Ang).

Here is a miners belt I once owned. The leather was to protect your rear when you slid down a slide. I don't recall the German term but it translates to something like ass leather.

It is known as Fahrleder, as such item one could position onto a belt, either by loops
or directly sewn onto it. This piece is also known as Bergleder or Arschleder
(ass leather) and was meant for protecting against cold or wet when sitting!

There is even a song about it, which includes:
    Die Bergleut sein kreuzbrave Leut’
denn sie tragen das Leder vor dem Arsch bei der Nacht
denn sie tragen das Leder vor dem Arsch bei der Nacht
und saufen Schnaps, und saufen Schnaps
    .“

Thanks as always for the interesting information. The example was seen to the belt and looked unused.

Still hoping you come out with a buckle book. I can photograph anything in my collection if you ever decide to do one. Angolia's book was OK but I bet yours would be much better.

    Thanks

Thanks for the kind words, Kirby. I did a lot of research about buckles since the mid 1970's up to
the early 1980's. I once planned a book, but when some were released through the years, I decided
not to continue with it. My initial plan was taken over! It is that some of the books I got for free,
otherwise I would not have even bought them, as the one or the other is just trash!

A friend of mine from Germany is planning to do a new buckle-book. He is researching for years.
In my opinion he is the one who is able to bring a good book. It's up too him! I have old and others
plans as long as I am able to do.

Indeed, and some "unofficial" stanzas may be added by singers deep in their cups. One has a refrain of "... und da scheisst so ein Schwein in das Bergwerk hinein ..."

I hope he does come out with a book. I forgot I sent photos of my pebbled SA/NSKK with the round swastika to a German collector who said he is doing a book.

It could be him for sure, as I do not know a second person right now
    who is planning a buckle-book!
