Default Garage sale Find. Kriegsmarine Buckle??

Hello and thank in advance for looking at this post.

The attached photos are of a buckle that I picked up at a local garage sale. It looks like a Kriegsmarine buckle, but one I have not seen or kind an example of on the net or books that I have. Am I right that it is a Kriegsmarine?

    Any thoughts from the Forum?

    Thanks

    Mark

They do not look German to me. I will be surprised if they are confirmed as German let alone Kriegsmarine to be honest. Although not my area so could be wrong. Cheers, Sean.

    Hello Mark,
The first one posted certainly resembles a TR Kriegsmarine buckle but could very well be pre war. Here is a TR one that I own.

    Ralph,

Thanks for the picture and that is why I am thinking it is Kriegsmarine. It is possible that it could be pre WWII. Hmmm interesting

I would expect it to be of British manufacture, not German.

I believe that the second buckle (with crossed rifles) was made by a firm called Matthias Salcher & Söhne.

I did not think of that but I thought theirs would have been topped by HM Crown???

It's just that this type of buckle construction was mainly used by them. Not seen a German one before in this style.
