I am now looking for a Luftwaffe Leather Belt for a buckle I just bought. I say one marked "L.B.A.B.40" Can anyone tell me what hat means? What do just the leather belts usually sell for? Any info on belts would be appreciated. What are the general feelings about adding belts to buckles? Good idea or not?

    Thanks,

    William

William, LBA is a Luftwaffe acceptance stamp usually found on earlier period items. Some people add a belt to a buckle, or vice versa, and others do not. As always price depends on condition and others factors. $75-150 about the range for a nice belt. Here is a thread to read thru where I did add a nice LBA marked belt to a certain Luft buckle:

    Thanks Jeff,

I like a belt on a buckle. I would like to put it on the new crank catch droop tail buckle I just purchased. Do I have to be careful about the age of the buckle and the age of the belt? Early buckle with late belt say?

Do you know what "L.B.A.B. 40" stands for? Anyone?

Luftwaffe Bekleidungsamt Bielefeld? 40 is the date. Not too sure if Bielefeld is the town/city in question.

Found this online, not sure it's 100%. Maybe another member has additional clarification:

    LBA(S)= Sonneberg ( not Stuttgart ! )
    LBA(B)= Berlin
    LBA(BF) = BieleFeld

Would a leather belt made in 1940 go on a "crank catch droop tail" buckle?

The second pattern buckle came out in 1938 so it really wouldn't be a true fit. Most luftwaffe set I have didn't have LBA marked belts.
