Re: My collection-an overview
Hello Bill,
I like your collection very much - a super compilation with a lot of interesting Weimar era pieces.
As your time permits I would like to see detailed images of the following buckles:
- Bahn/ Bahnschutz (these two pieces with wings and wheel)
- communist buckles
- brass buckle with city of Essen emblem
Best,
Guido

Ben,
Yes that is (was) your buckle. Funny thing is I cannot find a record of when I rec'd it or a price. the tag on it has fallen of. I tried checking through my records but cannot find it. It is probably right in front of my face. Anyway can you provide me with the date of sale. I am also going to repost my collection as I obviosely really screwed up on the close-ups and there were duplicates which should not have been there. It's a b***h to get old.
Bill
Bill, to be honest mate I would not have a clue!

Great buckles guys! Bill, I love your eclectic selection...thanks for starting this thread and sharing. Ben, where could I get a case like the one you have?
Best,
Adam
Adam, I have these made in the UK, the guy specialises in display cases for collections of whatever you have

Re: My collection-an overview
Hello Bill, thanks for showing!!
All buckles are very interesting!
My favourite piece is of course the silver Art Deco Bahnschutz buckle! They are very, very hard to find.
These Bahn/ Bahnschutz buckles with wings and wheels are quite enigmatic. The silver example is well known from the Assmann catalogue but pieces in real are quasi nonexistent. The brass buckle is also very unusual. I know this particular emblem only from Bahn collar tabs.
Many thanks again, I appreciate it!
Best,
Guido

Re: My collection-an overview
Dear Guido,
Thanks for the kind reply. The 1st pattern in silver I was concerned about as well because of the fakes out there. I have had this particular buckle for many years and have not seen another-fake or real like it. The buckle body is correct and the rondel also looks well defined. Anyway it is what it is and a very scarce buckle. The silver art deco bahnschutz I got fom Marc in a trade but paid dearly for it. As you state a very, very rare buckle. the brass bahnshutz is the only one I have located that appears to be period but who knows. It is supposedly for use by street car conductors and as you say they are shown on collar tabs in a few different configurations.
Thanks and best regards,
Bill
