    Kurt,

Well that certainly makes sense, I guess. I never was sure one could get USA out of USW plus the 1915 date would be make it much to early for America who did not enter the war until 1918.

    Bill

    Hello Bill,

you have shown an interesting buckle!

I knew this motif just from coins and medals till now.

What do you think, is the roundel die stamped or molded?
May you take a look through the catch at the backside of the roundel?

    Best,
    Guido

    Guido,

Thanks for the kudos. I have to say this is the first of this style I have ever seen other then the one pictured in Reid's book and of course the fake ones floating around that are terrible copies. Anyway, to answer your question- the rondel appears to be die stamped nickel-silver and this is confirmed by looking thru the catch wear it shows the same composition but duller in color.

    Hope this helps.

    All the best,

    Bill

Many thanks for your input, Bill!

I would say a stamped nickel-silver roundel gives basically a much better feeling than a molded one!
Again, I never saw these buckles before and think that the motto is quite unusual on a buckle!
However, you are obviously quite happy about your new addition and this is the main thing!

    Best regards,
    Guido

Here is one of the medallions that Guido so rightly alluded to.

    Remarkable!
