NSDAP - Early Variant Diplomatic Buckle

Here some from my friend in Belgium. The material is part from
the stolen collection, as far as I know. Nothing has been found yet!
Investigations are still going. As soon as information comes available
my friend will let me know.



For the diplomatic corps there were mentioned in a November 27, 1942 order
(H 10600 from the Auswärtiges Amt).

Group 1: golden buckle
Group 2: ibid
Group 3: ibid
Group 4: ibid
Group 5: ibid

Beamte des gehobenen Dienstes:
Group 1: silver buckle
Group 2: ibid

Beamte des mittleren Dienstes:
all functions silver buckle

Beamte des einfachen Dienstes:
all functions silver belt-buckle.

The form of the brocades was mentioned as well.

I check with Gary and his Diplomatic buckle with the same silver and gold combination isn’t marked. He says none of his are marked and he hasn’t ever come across a marked one. A nice score. Being a Goverment officials buckle I am not surprised it is over complicated what group and what pay grade wore what what color buckle with what Brocade.

It is not difficult at all, when one has the correct information.
A good explanation about government and diplomatic would clarify all!

Wim, When I saw this buckle and bought it I had not seen one like it in my travels. When I posted it I was unsure whether it was a forestry variant or diplomatic variant. I had posted early as I felt with the brass construction versus an aluminum construction that it was made pre 1939 or earlier WWII. Not sure my rationale or logic makes sense. I admit I am not as studied on the regulations as I am on the buckles themselves. I had to consult with Ben Evans on this one myself and I seem to think he felt it was an earlier marked variant unless I am mistaken. Hope that makes sense on my “early” label. Thanks again for your data provided on this thread.

Why some of these buckles are made from materials that were not allowed after 1936,
I have no idea about. There is still a lot to be discovered.

When the word "early" is being used then I automatically think about the period 1932
through 1934 or so. But then there were no official governmental or diplomatic uniforms.
They were a fact since about 1938/1939.
