Thank you for the welcome and your knowledge. I actually bought this at my local auction house who do not specialize in military items, if you believe this is a 100% fake I will return it.

Hello mate. You can always salvage/liberate the cap eagle and U-boot award if they are period items, and if this "buckle" was not too expensive.

Thank you to everyone who replied. I took it back and even sent them the link to this page so they can see themselves, apparently they are going to "research" it themselves and will refund me. Still waiting.
To be honest they should have also researched it before they put it into their auction and called it a "Rare WW2 period German U-boat officers gilt metal buckle"
Will let you know the final decision.
