David,
I met Gerolf last weekend, who told me, that the fair was not ver succesful for him, too.
But what about the rest of Marcs collection he sold - so many different SA buckles - not even one variant for you ?
cheers
Thomas

David,
Another large swas denoting the "mobile" or "sunwheel" profile albeit it is on a 40mm buckle. Reverse shows the alligator belt fastener and center buckle catch.
wow! fabulous buckles...keep 'em coming!....
Thomas
Gerolf was one of the German collectors that I had the pleasure of meeting at Kassel. You are correct in thinking that I met up with Marc and a few buckles did exchange hands. All to be posted at a later date and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The regular SA buckles of Marc were really of little interest to me as I already hold examples of the ones then being sold. As you probably now know, they have been sold as a massive group to a well known German dealer.

A super buckle and actually, I think it is very unusual and quite rare. My thoughts to these large "sun wheel" emblem buckles is youth rather than NSDAP "Kampfzeit" related. Do you have any ideas or theories yourself ?

I did not catch the chaps surname and had rather lazily assumed that there was only one well known "Gerolf" within the German buckle collecting community. Perhaps Thomas can help me out on this one ?
