Thanks for your opinions guys. the thing just sits in a draw and I have no emotional attachment to it so maybe I will try and sell it but I have never "sold" anything on ebay before. can I sell it here ?

Hello,
that buckle was worn by municipal servants and fire defense from Munich. It was surely worn prewar, but possibly also worn again after the war. Offered at eBay it should not go under 80 USD. Even more than 100 USD are possible because so many people know Munich and love to have something which isn't made in China.

These buckles don't show up very often. For me a rare buckle.
