Gents, the buckle is 1000% genuine and in fact quite a rare maker to get hold of, you will not find many Lehmann & Wunderberg buckles coming up for sale, nice maker actually who had a very distinct eagle design. The belt and buckle are not a set, the aluminium buckle has been added to the web belt, old versus the newer so to speak, the buckle is 1938 whereas the web belts were made around 41/42

superb thanks for clearing that up, i was laways lead to belive they were together buckle and belt, reason being the story told by the person (who aquired it) gave it to mother and it was he who took it from the soldier towards the end of the war in belgium, but there is no way to ever find out 100% if they were together or not, maybe he had a few pieces and put these together, either way im glad to hear it is 100% genuine.
You said this is quite a rare buckle, what sort of value would you would expect for the buckle and the belt??

Thanks for the advice it has been great, i wish i hadn't found this belt in my loft now as i have spent about 6 hours today alone looking at items for sale to buy and start a collection lol

The buckle itself is not worth a fortune, I would say $70-$90 collectors who specialise in makers would like it, but there are not many of them, $200 for the whole set is a reasonable offer IMO, personally I would keep the set

Hi Dan, that is a good legitimate question. But I think it is a case of comparing apples to oranges On daggers any kind of regular swirling patterning to the dots which form the design is generally, but not always, indicative of a fake. But this maxim is not applied to buckles.

    Cheers, Ade.
