original or copy?
Sorry Max, dont know anything about Slovakian Buckles
Ben
That is the Coat of Arms of the First Republic, that much I can say, with the Mountains being "pointy" instead of rounded as nowadays. Can't say if it's original though, as I don't collect belt buckles.
I'm curious as to where you got this however.

The buckle is original and is the later version of the slovakian buckle and harder to find. You will note a makers mark (faint) on the catch.

All thanks for the help.
I have one also. My father acquired it probably either while in the merchant marines in WW2 or in post war Germany 1953 - 1957. Mine has a nice gloss with few scratches. Anyone have a guess as to current sale value? I might be interested in selling it.
I bought for 80 $.ebay is on sale for 259 $.
As Bill stated - good buckle.
Here are my two. The first is similar to the OP and the second is painted black - I do not know why this is.
photos did not post as loaded but you should be able to id the two.
