1853 2 Band Enfield

Hello again boys,
No 4 on my list is this 1853 2 Band Enfield dated 1858.
Although this has the ladder sights on it it has a smooth bore which would indicate issue to Indian Sepoys.
After the Mutiny the previous year the British Army decided to smooth Bore the Enfields issued to native troops.
The idea was to be able to engage them at longer ranges and hope fully with the smoothbore and simple V Notch sight, they could not hit a cow's arse with a banjo so we would win....againLol!

The same idea 90 years later- .410 musket smoothbore SMLE conversion for the Indian army (both pre and post Independence).

Nice piece,
I had a 4.10 SMLE years ago and used to shoot it.
It cost me £65 and was a minter.
That would look nice on the wall with a bayonet attached.

It's still live-has to be secured in a safe-was made in 1910 by London Small Arms and converted at Ishapore arsenal in 1947.

I think, the Sepoys got 'engaged' at very close range in front of cannon after the mutiny.
