does anybody know what MO means?

Nobody knows for sure, some people say it means ministry of defence and some say it doesn't its still un certain.

It can't be ministry of defense because it was formed only in like 1953. And there are plenty of mosins with MO mark and pre 53 year when there were no even a hint of ministry... Mistery

Maybe ministry of defence became official in 53 but was around still around before that? Who knows.
