Besides sight, stock, 2 and 4 groove barrels, and some manufacturing short cuts - stamped versus milled parts.....they are very similar.

An 03-A3 rifle would be stamped U.S.
    REMINGTON
MODEL 03-A3 and the serial no. should be above 3,348,000.

    Hi Ben,

The wood on your rifle looks either reproduction or sanded.

I am far from an expert, but please don't hesitate to let me know if I can help you with your restoration project at all.

Here is my M1903A3 Smith Corona...

I know it is the A3 variation, the stock was replaced....
Yes here I said it was replaced meaning its new mfg, but upon tearing it apart I found that it was modified to fit wrong... Then I thought about buying an original stock or a different reproduction or possibly reworking it to fit. Now I am not sure what to restore it as, since I do not think it is marked A3 as Zwerge pointed out...
Did they convert previous 03s into a3's for WWII or should I know focus on taking it back to a regular 03?
This project is turning into a headache, but I still cant complaint on how much I have invested yet, but I am sure it will increase rather quickly...
Thanks for all the help guys

Your SC 03a3 is very nice by the way Joe, I plan on turning this into a shooter or reenactment gun it depends on how functional I get the sights
