1943 Remington 1911

Picked up a 1911 this week. It appears to be an arsenal rebuild. It has a type III Remington slide on a type II receiver from Remington. Both should be 1943 produced. I got it right and it is mechanically excellent.

Nice one pal. I know Remington and even Singer made some of the Model 11s during the war from what I have read. Hopefully serial nos. will tell you what year of production. Have fired these old war horses myself and appreciate the heft to control muzzle flip. Enjoy it but the cost of 45 ammo I am sure you have noticed is crazy. Thanks for showing.

I have a half dozen 1911 45's now so I have a stock pile of 45 ammo.

This is far from the nicest one I have but my guess is this one was an issued side arm during WWII. Many of them we see never left the supply depot.

Great looking 1911A1. I have a Remington and an Ithica in my US Section of my War room. Both 1943 issue.

I bought a Remington Rand 1944 made example at the beginning of this year-Americans would choke on their morning Fruit Loops if they knew what the M1911/A1s are fetching here in any condition-by far the most expensive mass produced military pistols-mine is still awaiting licencing to me (along with 13 other assorted pistols) but I will have it soon.
