Well, I took it out shooting today along with my M1 and as I guessed, the K98 didn't group that well at all. Might've been the ammo though, I was using 1930 Persian and 1953 Yugoslav 8MM. I did hit the 200 and 500 yard gong with the M1 though. First time shooting at that distance.

That 1930's Persian 8mm is the worst ammo I have ever used lots on duds and hang fires. I ended up pulling the bullets for later reloading. Probably the reason your accuracy wasn't that good. I haven't had much of a problem with the Yugo 50's ammo other than they have harder primers than most. The best surplus I have found in 8mm is the 8mm Portuguese. It is accurate and reliable and non corrosive.

I had two rounds of the Persian stuff they didn't even go off after five primer strikes. The Yugoslav stuff had hard primers as usual but I was using my Israeli bolt and the spring isn't as good as it used to be. I've found the Romanian surplus to be good stuff but I can never find it for sale

Yes I agree on the Romanian 8mm that's why I din't comment on it. The other good 8mm I found is the late 30"s early 40's German brass cased ammo that came in still in their crates and 300 rounds cartons but it is not available any longer either.

I might just sell off the remaining Persian crap that I've got. If you need more reloading components pm me and can work something out, I've got 30 rounds of 1936 German 8MM but I don't plan on shooting it though
