Nice to see those stamps in the left side of the stock.
I actually like this one better than your CMP version.
Mine below for comparison. Got this one about 25
years ago from author/collector R. Blake Stevens

Thank you.. Nice rifle.
One of the guys that I work with, last name "Garand" is actually the nephew of Mr. John Garand.
Very Nice. I like the lock bar sights!! I have those on mine.
So did you gage the muzzle and chamber?

Those are such beautiful rifles! They look like they will last forever and built like a tank. I hope to find one some day, it'll be in my collection.

Hi Mark.
There are still quite a lot of these out there, but condition
is a factor in cost. Weeks ago I saw one at a local show
which was similar to the one above - asking $1,900.
20 years ago there were some surplus Garands up
here for $199 each, but they didn't look too great.
The Civilian Marksmanship Program down your way
would be the 'cream-of-the-crop' for a nice Garand
these days and something to look into - unless
you stumble across a beauty like Rob's.........!
Regards,
Steve.
Thanks for the info, Steve. I have seen some of the guys posting about the CMP and have wondered if all the Garands were WW2 era? The program sounds great. Would you happen to know if they provide matching-parts rifles or are they pieced together? Everyone would like a matching rifle, myself included.
20 years ago? Imagine what will happen 20 years from now. Will collections be that much more valuable? Will only certain things be more valuable? I hope to be around to find out, but I can wait!

Lol - I'd buy another if I could get this kind of program here !
I believe they are all refurbed in some way - new wood,
barrels and certain parts but apparently you can make
requests for specifics and 'Special' grades. Below are
a couple of members' threads who recently
purchased CMP Garands:
