Looks like a pretty decent 98K. Like the others have said, the stock has been refinished, but they look to have done a decent job of it, and unless you're a strict purist, that isn't really the kiss of death. Be advised when you get it and fire it, that these old boys kicked like bears! That steel butt plate doesn't do a whole lot of good in absorbing recoil! And, you'll need to pick up a period sling for it too. These can generally be found but are sometimes on the pricey side, so again, shop around! And maybe a bayonet and scabbard...and...a cleaning kit...and,oh, nevermind! You get the picture! Nice gun and good luck while you wait for it! William

Thank you all! I feel somewhat better now!

Once I get my rifle I'll tell you how it shoots and feels.

And post a bunch of photos!

I'm really happy that you guys think this is a decent buy. I was freaking out when I won the auction beacuse I only got "Nummerngleich" and "Erwerbsscheinpflichtig" from the german description, and I did not have the time to translate the rest of the text with google.

So I was like... oh wait, what did I just spend 1000 euros on?

Wau, im in love, that portuguese 1937 98k is beautiful, however the price is a bit high.
In good working condition they are sold here for about 900 - 1000 euros.
    Cheers.

Okay, so I recived my mauser today and I took some photos and thought I'd post them. One thing I'm a bit worried about is when I take the bolt back it feels somewhat loose. Hope you guys can understand my english

I like it! It looks very clean and the stock looks nice too... much better than the goopy shellack that the Russians slathered on mine.

Can you explain in a little more detail by what you mean the bolt feels loose?

    Thank you mate

I can wiggle the bolt sideways 0.5 cm. But it is good when the bolt is locked in position.

This is my first rifle so any advice would be helpful.

I'm not an expert by any means... let me go check my K98k, I'll report back immediately.
