I always wondered why the Germans issued mostly Cal 7,65 mm pistols (apart from the usual 9mm para's)? This Femaru was also made in 9mm short as were many of these smaller pistols.
Did the Germans consider the 7,65mm superior to the 9mm short round and on what grounds?

Emile that's a great question. I will say that I have a large number of 7.65 or .32's in my collection. I believe the 7.65 came first and was tried and proven, then the 9mm came along and was found to have more punch. I will leave it for the experts to comment further.
