Default Air ministry shotgun transit chest

Picked up this transit chest which apparently by the markings suggests an air ministry shotgun,it would be single barrel and no longer than 40", i can find no reference on the internet, any ideas anyone, also got a .303 browning chest too.

Not really my area, but I seem to recall that shotguns were used in gunnery instruction - I could of course be completely wrong on that !

Richie B you are correct. I posted this photo I have on the forum before, but I will post it here again, shows Rhodesian personnel practicing their air gunnery using a shotgun. Nice find Wrecker

I was thinking about contacting the seller of those boxes, I was after the .303 browning box but just never had the time to go and collect.

The shotguns we had in service had lots of uses from vermin control to riot control!

Your dead right there. If you got them for the ebay price you got them cheap (in my opinion), if you got them for less then you've done even better.

I got them for the starting price so not bad for some nice old boxes.
