A Kegger and a MP 40 would be an awesome find. Somebody buried their 2 favorite items they were hoping to return to!!!
So It sounds like they are speaking Russian, Where exactly was this MP44 found?

I'm thinking that's Poland Phil?
Amazing find - that STG was ready to go to the range with two loaded mags too.
The other STG mentioned - the one found in the US, was saved from destruction by a cop who reqognized it, for what it was - a nice story.
Thank god! Sometimes the department heads are such tight arses that they won't allow any weapons turned in to be saved. A damn shame. I've heard of cops convincing people to change their minds and sell it to the cop at a later time.
A range off possibilities here. Perhaps it was hidden for:
*Anti-communist activities post-war
*Something happened in the heat of battle that required it to be stowed
*The owner was a nazi or sympathizer and wanted protection from nazi hunters
*A Wehrmacht soldier concealing his identity and just wanting to put his life back together postwar
??
We will probably never know!
.....or simply something as mundane as a rifle picked up and stowed by a local, after its previous owner dropped it and hastily departed for a more healthy climate westwards (or just simply dropped it).
Plenty of pick-ups in the havoc, that was the ever diminishing Eastern Front.
But as you say; we most likely will never know.
